Goodbye 2016
This year has affectionately been known to me as the Year of Endings – 2016 in numerology is a number 9 year. Nine year vibes as completion, rest and forgiveness.
2016 has seen many of my shiatsu clients, yoga attendees and friends go through huge challenges. However, not all endings are bad. Endings can be an opportunity to reassess life and to start again with gained wisdom. However, if you are feeling stuck, uninspired, exhausted and maybe just plain old p****d off – here are some ideas to throw off the old year and guide you into the new energy of 2017 (number 1 – Year of New Beginnings).
- Cull – Do you really need all that stuff? Declutter your home, car and work space. Eastern practises recognise a messy space leads to an unfocused mind and heavy heart. Keep items that are useful to you and items you love. Ditch the rest. Sell or recycle it. Let go of the need to consume and hoard. Living connections and experiences are more fulfilling.
If you need some inspiration to get you started check out the Netflix documentary Minimlamists.
- Meditate – Yep! You know its good for you but you don’t have the time. Well, what if I was to tell you that you’ll create more time if you meditate. Your mind will be so serene that you will make the best choices for yourself and you’ll get more done. Benefits include: happiness, increased productivity and calm mind/emotions. The inner calm you cultivate will shine out your eyeballs and light up the crappiest of days.
Need help? Download the Headspace app – it’s free to start your 10 days of 10 mins.
- Forgive – Hmmm, how? Why would you want too? He/she is an a**hole! Forgive to free yourself from inner tension and the outer cranky facial lines in-between your eyebrows. While you continue to hold bad feeling toward yourself and/or others you will be imprisoned. You deserve to live a loving existence so make amends or if you’re not ready yet, start by entertaining the possibility of forgiving. At the every least commit to let that bad juju go!
Need reminding? BeLove body stickers are a physical reminder to change your negative thought patterns.

- Chew – I’ll be honest, it’s boring. But you will nourish your whole body at the same time as powering up the colon to eliminate toxins. Clear bowels clear mind (and skin). You’ll know you’re doing it right when your food becomes liquid in the mouth. Chewing in this way, stops over eating (no weight gain), gives an over worked digestive system a break (eliminate bloating, constipation and indigestion), nourishes the body by maximising nutrient absorption (anti-aging). Need more reasons? You’ll be more attentive, sugar cravings will lessen and blood sugar levels will be stabilised so you’ll have more energy and you’ll overcome negative habitual modes of behaviour. Awesome, right!! And, it’s free and available right now!
Need support? Make an appointment for a Zen Shaitsu Therapy session to support and balance your qi- info@kellihoward.com.au
- Move – We are a sitting society. Our excessive sitting effects our breathing, digestive and circulatory systems. Depression, fatigue and digestive disorders are at an all time high. Walk, run, skip – doesn’t matter what – just move it. Studies show daily exercise increases mental health, energy levels, brain function, memory and is the fountain of youth. You don’t need fancy gym wear or equipment. Start today, start right now! Turn on some music and just dance (love you David Bowie)!
Need guidance? Summer Yoga 15 min audio (with notes) emailed to you for $10 – or order contact Kelli info@kellihoward.com.au
(Please note: current BC Yoga students have already received this as a Christmas gift so please don’t re order)

See you on the mat in 2017!
