Yes! Winter is here! Game of Thrones lovers you’ll know what I mean (I just couldn’t help myself lol!)
Anyway, it is here and will be for a bit longer. We’re all so busy with prolonged stress which is detrimental to our health so I’ve put together 3 simple and effective winter lifestyle additions to help you feel better each day.
- Keep your water intake up – dehydration is common in winter. Hydration will keep your skin and hair lush, joints and muscles lubricated and relaxed, your brain sharp and emotions less reactive. Remember that tea and coffee is not counted as water, it dries you out more.
- Move your body regularly to keep your circulation active. Walking 30 minutes a day is the recommended minimum to keep all sorts of health conditions at bay. We are not designed sit all day. If the weather isn’t suitable to get outside try skip rope, squats or youtube an exercise or yoga class.
- Mindful breathing – 3 minutes being still, close your eyes and keep all your attention on your inhale and exhale. Bringing more stillness into your days improves productivity and lowers stress levels. This technique clears the clutter from your mind.
Burwood Community Yoga
BCYoga is available to beginners, all fitness levels and age groups. You do not need to be flexible to come to class, that’s a benefit you gain from regular practise, as well as core strength, improved posture, muscle tone and calmness. The term 3 winter program starts soon with limited places still available.
Ancient yogic texts say your age is not determined by the amount of years you’ve lived, it’s determined by how flexible your spine is. Winter classes focus on the whole back and delves deeper into the bladder, kidneys and adrenal function.
